Ingredients

  • 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 2 lbs.)
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 16 oz. salsa

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken

  • Place the 3 chicken breasts in the crock pot. Sprinkle with 2 teaspoons of chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder. Pour 16 ounces of salsa over the seasoned chicken.

Slow Cooking Time

  • Cover and cook on high for 2.5 hours or low for 5 hours, allowing the chicken to absorb all the flavors and become tender.

Check for Tenderness

  • Test the chicken by shredding it with a fork. If it does not easily pull apart, cook for an additional 30 minutes on high or 1 hour on low until it reaches the perfect tenderness.

Shred and Serve

  • Once fully cooked, use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the crock pot. Stir it well to mix with the salsa and juices for maximum flavor. Serve hot in tacos, burritos, nachos, salads, or your favorite dish.
